FCC Covered List Won’t Affect Existing DJI Drones

Jan 21, 2026 DJIUSA Store

Drone pilots in the United States are facing uncertainty surrounding the NDAA and the FCC Covered List, especially when it comes to their existing DJI drones. There are also concerns about the future availability of DJI drones for purchase.
In this post, we’ll clarify what the FCC Covered List regulates and explain how it impacts DJI drones.

What is the FCC Covered List?

The FCC Covered List identifies companies whose telecommunications and radio equipment are considered a national security risk, resulting in restrictions in the United States. Companies on this list are no longer eligible to receive future FCC authorizations, which means their products cannot legally be purchased or used in the country.

Impact of the FCC Covered List on DJI Drones

In December 2025, the FCC Covered List was updated to include DJI, signaling that any new DJI radio-based products (including drones) will no longer receive FCC authorization in the future.

However, this list does not affect older DJI models that have been circulating in the USA before the list update.

Drones from DJI that have received FCC approval prior to the update of the FCC Covered List remain fully legal for purchase, ownership, and operation in the United States. This means that existing DJI models can continue to be flown without any issues.Retailers are also allowed to sell older DJI models introduced in the U.S. before the update, and purchasing these models is completely legal.

It’s important to note that the FCC Covered List is a forward-looking regulation and does not impact existing products.

What About Service and Spare Parts?

Just like the drones themselves, spare parts that were FCC-certified before the update are still legal to purchase and use. This includes radio-based components such as controllers, goggles, and flight units. Other accessories—such as batteries, propellers, and chargers—are unaffected and will continue to be available.

What Does This Mean for DJI’s U.S. Market?

Although DJI retailers can still sell drones that were authorized by the FCC before the update, the biggest impact will be on the variety of available models. Entering 2026, there won’t be any new DJI models legal to fly unless there is an exception.

While stock availability may fluctuate, purchasing from a DJI Authorized Retailer, such as djiusastore.com, will ensure you get access to legally-compliant, FCC-certified drones. Additionally, buying from official retailers guarantees better customer support and faster shipping.

Will djiusastore.com Still Sell the Same Drones?

Yes! We will continue to stock and sell the DJI drones currently listed on our website. We’re fully committed to staying compliant with the FCC Covered List and offering only FCC-certified drones with a complete warranty.
